Right Wing Government Careers

Right Wing Governments or political parties seem to have more members with real-world business experience and formal training in business or finance than others and I think this might be why this is the case:

  1. Party Philosophy and Policies.
    1. Right Wing Party’s core philosophy emphasises free enterprise, individual initiative and limited government intervention in the economy.
    2. This naturally attracts individuals with business backgrounds who align with these values.
    3. They will also tend to focus on rural and regional issues, often representing farmers and small business owners.
  2. A Very Strong Traditional Support Base
    1. Historically, right wing parties seem to be able to draw in support from business owners, professionals and rural landowners.
    2. This creates a self-reinforcing cycle where people from these backgrounds are more likely to join and rise within the party ranks.
  3. Education and Career Paths.

Members of right wing parties often come from backgrounds that prioritise certain educational and career paths:

  • A strong school education: It might be that many Right Wing Party members payed attention at school or enjoyed school and this gave them a taste for doing something challenging at university? They might have stronger education/learning networks and connections to the business world and this could present them with a very competitive edge later in life.
  • University degrees: There seems to be a higher proportion of law and business degrees among right wing party members. These fields often lead to careers in the private sector or provide skills very valuable in politics and policy-making.
  • Business careers: Many right wing government members have worked in management, finance or have owned successful businesses before entering politics, it’s possible that this gives them some great practical economic experience and their real world experience strongly equips them for the tough decisions that need to be made when running a country.

Party Recruitment and Selection.

It might just be that the right wing parties actively seek candidates with business and economic credentials as a priority, they might view this experience as highly valuable for economic policy-making and governance.

Ideological Alignment.

There’s a good chance that people with strong and successful business backgrounds may find their views on economic management and regulation more closely aligned with right wing political party policies.

Networking and Connections.

The business community often has established networks with these parties, making it easier for individuals from this background to enter politics through these channels.

Perception of Economic Management.

These parties often campaign on their perceived strength in economic management, which can be bolstered by having members with relevant experience.

Rural and Regional Focus.

As right wing members tend to enjoy representing rural and regional interests, this probably attracts farmers, graziers and small business owners from these areas.

It’s not all beer and skittles for the right wing governments though, their strong business and finance experience can sometimes lead to criticism that they may not fully represent the diversity of the population or may prioritise business interests over other concerns.

However, for those that are struggling and wish for a better more financially prosperous future, these members may often be seen as the light at the end of a currently very dark and scary tunnel.
