The Australian Energy Crisis

The once prosperous nation of Australia experiencing a significant Energy Crisis and this is all to do with errors made with their electricity generation policy:

Consistently rising electricity prices significantly above inflation rates.

Large businesses relocating manufacturing facilities to other countries specifically citing energy costs.

Small and medium businesses struggling to maintain operations due to electricity expenses.

Households spending an unusually high percentage of their income on electricity bills.

Emergency government interventions or subsidies to prevent electricity poverty.

Unless they start building baseload power supply, they will soon be on the verge of frequent rolling blackouts or load shedding events.

They are only a few years away from major grid stability issues with increasing frequency of voltage fluctuations.

Unless baseload power is invested in (Coal, Gas or Nuclear) there will be heavy reliance on emergency diesel generators by businesses and essential institutions.

There is rapid growth in private backup power systems among those who can afford them.

They have greenlit premature decommissioning of reliable baseload power plants without adequate replacement capacity.

Over-dependence on weather-dependent generation without sufficient storage solutions, they should have waited until the world perfected solid state battery technology before going fully down the wind and solar path.

They are spending vast amounts of taxpayers money on new transmission infrastructure to push their wind and solar agenda( intermittent power sources) whereas they already have had all this in place with more traditional power stations, they could have just built new technology ultra-supercritical high efficiency low emissions coal fired power stations in place of the old facilities that were built in the 1950’s

Declining industrial competitiveness due to the an overly expensive and soon to be unreliable power supply.

Regular media coverage of energy poverty.

Public complaints over electricity prices and this is now a major political issue.
